About The artist “I want to make people reflect, to stir up their critical sense. In my mind, art cures individual problems, but also has a social function. You give yourself over to it or you remain skeptical. There is the search for the aesthetic, but it’s not essential. I think of my works more as psychological research rather than an aesthetic proposal. I investigate things which have left an indelible impression on me; things that make me question the real meaning of my own existence and of life itself. My life has lead me to take a committed position within my art and this ethic also nourishes my work. The iconography of my work reaches back through time and consciousness, memory by memory…never relinquishing autobiographical intimacy.” (Patty Owen, 2022)
